Sathya, Tamer and Susanne participated online in the DSA conference of 2025 on the 26th of June. Sathya presented on ‘the digitalisation of farm practices and challenges faced by marginal and small farmers in India’, as part of a panel on ‘digital agriculture in crisis’. This, and other papers, questioned the benefits of digital agriculture for small farmers and instead who is really benefiting. Tamer presented a joint paper with Susanne on ‘the role of digitalised food assistance in Sudanese state-civil society relations’ as part of the panel on ‘the role of non-state actors in political crises’. It complemented other papers by not only emphasizing the role of local actors in aid provision but also how regional and international politics feeds into Sudan’s political economy of war and aid.
