Tamer and Susanne present Sudan research at CEDEJ-Khartoum
Authored by:
On 19 November 2025, Tamer and Susanne presented preliminary findings of the second phase of Sudan research at CEDEJ Khartoum in Cairo. The presentation focussed on the experience of people receiving digital food assistance (or not) in Darfur, Gezira, Khartoum, and Kassala, as well as wider political economy issues. It led to a lively and informative discussion about the role of merchants in money transfers, the drive for digital banking in army-controlled areas, and the implications for internet access via Starlink in different parts of Darfur. The role of diaspora, global responsibility, and the effect of outsourcing aid to digital platforms was another debated issue.
